Apparently the temperature of Earth has increased by about 1 degree over the last 100 years. But in the 70's there was fear over global cooling.
Yes, scientists and others predicted doom and gloom about global cooling and the liberal lapdogs of the media gladly lapped it all up and published their stories about the imminent doom we all faced:
Dan Gainor has a great article here about Newsweek warning of Global Cooling

Another great article about the flipping and flopping over cooling, warming, cooling...

With me it's not an argument about the existence of climate change, whether the earth is cooling or whether it's warming. I believe that the earth has its own patterns of fluctuation and that climate change is out of our control. Natural emissions of "greenhouse gas" including water vapor far outweigh anything that we humans produce.
I believe the earth is a gift of God and that he's provided in it everything we need to survive. I understand that we are given dominion over the earth, and that its resources are here for our use and enjoyment... and definitely should be used wisely. In moderation for the purpose of longevity and preservation.

My problem isn't responsible use of this earth. Of course it needs to be respected and cared for. I enjoy nature as much as the next guy. I also enjoy and depend on the conveniences and lifestyle of the city. It's a delicate balance.
Anyone who loves gardening knows what a delicate balance it takes to grow your own food and keep it growing year after year. Everyone knows trees need to be replanted where used. The great part is that they're a renewable resource. Of course recycling is a good idea........ and on and on. My problem isn't with any of that. Having said that, I don't believe in man made global warming. I just don't.

My problem is with the ever persistent drum beat of liberals and environ*mental* nutjobs running around screeching and creating frenzy. My problem is with the extremists whose agenda is not truly driven by an appreciation for the gifts of God (or even an acknowledgement of the fact that it is a gift of God) and a genuine respect and desire to use those gifts responsibly, but rather to force their politically/financially motivated agendas on us. That's where I have a problem with this whole mess. The doom and gloom give Americans a guilt trip man-made global warming scare tactic of these idiots is beyond reason. Beyond tiresome. It's just ticking me off at this point.

Hey environ(mental) wingnut! Next time you drive by me in you "greencar" looking down your nose at me while patting yourself on the back, thinking you're doing some grand good for the world... think about this for a change-
You know that little butt ugly speed bump of a car of yours? Think about that car dealership you bought it at. You know how it got there? That's right- pulled on a trailer behind a diesel guzzling emissions burping semi. Speaking of that car dealership. Gee, how did it get there? That's right. It wasn't carved out of stone by hand right where it stands. Nope. There were more than likely trees or other natural vegetation growing there. They had to be cleared out by emissions producing, fuel guzzling machinery. There were backhoes and motor graders. There were gas generators running all over the place. There were countless deliveries of wood, concrete, plumbling and electrical wiring all brought in on gas and diesel burning trucks. Yep. Your little green-friendly car definitely didn't come from a green dealership. It took a whole lot of fossile fuel to get to a point where they could sell you that little car. The same thing goes for the house you live in. Same process. Same for the stores you shop in- same exact process. How about the food you're able to conviently buy at the grocery store. Yep! All hauled there in diesel guzzling tractor trailers all packaged and stacked nicely on wooden pallets ready to be put on a shelf for the convenience you enjoy. If you really want to be truly green, then go out in the wilderness and live off the land. Grow your own food. Hunt, kill and cut your own meat. If you're really serious about it- then go and live it. Otherwise, shut up and get out of my face with your guilt trip America bashing fear, uncertainty and doom.

Fossile fuel is what we've got. When there's something better at a consumer-friendly price, I'll be all over it. Until then, it is what it is...
