I've made no secret about my 100% pro-life stance. We all have our reasons for seeing things the way we do. I believe that all life should be allowed to happen. Period.

A very good friend of mine has given me permission to re-post a message she wrote on Facebook. She gives a very touching and detailed description as to why she is FOR LIFE. The post speaks for itself and I hope you all enjoy her message (names are omitted for the sake of privacy):

    A Note About Why I Am Pro-Life:

Many of you know I have a brother who is mentally retarded and autistic. Actually, his final label in school was PDD- Pervasive Developmental Disorder, which means that on a spectrum of autism from severe to mild, he is somewhere in between. I remember when my brother was young and he was, for lack of a better word, a hellian. My parents had no idea what to do with him because his behavior was so bad. He wouldn't eat, sleep or obey. He was continually causing problems. There wasn't the kind of information out there that there is today to give him a label. They spent a lot of time and money on child psychologists and other forms of therapy to try to give him the help he needed. My mom was depressed a lot and my parents fought a lot because they didn't know what they should do.

He did grow up and through some amazing special education teachers and other counselor types as well as my parent's determination and pure GRACE of God, my brother has turned into a working and productive member of society. He works as a busboy at ****, and is a very faithful and hard-working employee. He faithfully attends church, loves God and is a blessing to anyone who knows him. People are continually telling my parents what a blessing he is to them. Part of who I am today is because I grew up with the challenges and frustrations of having a brother like him. I am sensitive, compassionate and love people for who they are and not based on outer appearances or antics that some would consider weird.

One of the most amazing testimonies of my brother's life is his blood. My brother has type O- blood which most of you know is universal and anyone with any type of blood can recieve his blood. But another aspect of his blood is that he has a special ingredient in it that allows them to give his blood to premature babies. For every pint of blood he gives, he helps to save the lives of 4 pre-mature babies. My Dad estimates that he has given over 7 gallons of blood. Every 6 weeks, the bloodbank practically knocks his door down for asking his blood donation. And he gives very regularly.

Now, what if my parents had known that life with**** in the early years was going to be so challenging to them. He would cost them a lot of money, time, energy and not to mention the emotional drain that raising a child with a disability would cause our family. And he WAS a challenge my friends. What if they had decided to snuff out his life before it even began? Simply because it was going to be hard? We would have all missed out on a very special life. I would have missed out on knowing an amazing man and brother, my parents would have missed out on the JOYS of raising a child with special needs, **** would not have an amazing employee who will be content to serve as a busboy until he dies, and those precious, preemie babies would have also missed out on a chance at life. Don't you think THEIR parents are grateful that my parents chose life?

I have very strong feelings about abortion. I know many of my facebook friends feel differently, and I respect your freedom to disagree with me. I just feel so compelled to write this at this time before this very important election. I could never support a candidate who believes ANY life is a choice and that we have the right to choose to kill an innocent life because we made a mistake. No matter how dire the circumstances- rape, downs syndrome, spina bifeda, mental retardation- the Lord can take ANY life and make it amazing. That is just His nature. My brother is living proof of that.

So, that is why I am proud to be pro-life and a proud supporter of the McCain/Palin ticket. I hope you will consider this viewpoint before you cast your vote.
