"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ... And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." - Thomas Jefferson Tom O’Halloran is a Conservatice friend. I've enjoyed his enthusiasm and humor on Twitter (@tpo_hisself). Tom has recently launched a new site www.aboldstepback.com His view of what has happened to the Republican party and Washington in general is one of disgust. That same view is shared by millions of Americans. Yes, we're disgusted with Washington as a whole, but we are even more sickened by the state of the Republican party. Yes, we hold you to a higher standard than the Democrats. Why? Because the Socialist Democrat party has no standards. Our Constitution guarantees us a Republican form of government, and you, our elected representatives have failed miserably at the basic task of actually representing us. We are split. I've written about the rifts throughout the Republican party on more than one occasion. If you haven't figured t out by now, I'm about as right-wing as they come. I had huge reservations about McCain... huge. Even then, I knew the danger of a National Socialist like Obama. I knew the danger, and spent two years warning about him. The long-term damage done in a short time was not worth being stupid with my vote. By the time the primaries came here, Fred Thompson was out. I voted Romney. Then we were left with McCain, and I voted for him. I had to. The risk was too great to sit out in protest. Socialism has been slowly at work in America for years. The socialists are patient. They know their game well, and they count on a complacent and ignorant population to further their agenda. They are succeeding. Conservatism is the same way. Sometimes it has to take baby steps, and sometimes it rolls forward like a juggernaut. Now, it has come to a screeching halt. Why? Because our "representatives" have become a bunch of corrupt cowards who have too many people with too much dirt on them. So, voters became so angry and fed up that no candidate seemed to fit the bill. We picked every candidate apart like a piece of chicken. We are angry. We'd had enough of choosing the lesser of two evils. A lot of people simply sat it out in protest. Long story short, we cut off our nose to spite our own face. Whatever the reason, here we are. Our Constitution is hanging by a thread. We have a usurper in the White House who is dragging us down an irreparable path. Our anger, however justified, led us to this. We are the majority, but a divided majority is a useless and unproductive majority. So the question is, what now? I mentioned Tom O'Halloran and A Bold Step Back. I think he outlines a lot of great ideas. His ground rules are straightforward and sensible. You should read what he's proposing. Tom welcomes feedback and ideas. In the end he echos what I and millions of Americans are wanting; a smaller government that protects, defends and OBEYS the Constitution. We have allowed them too much. It's time to take it back. We, the people are the government and it's our responsibility, yes, OUR responsibility to put an end to this insanity and take our country back. Please visit A Bold Step Back. RII -C
